Coming Back

We all have experienced coming back after periods of not working out. Weather it be a few days, weeks or longer we all at some point in our training go through this transition. I only had 3 weeks of this but still found it a little difficult this past week. After 2 great workouts on Monday and Tuesday I found myself either sore/tired or just plain lazy. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday were all a no go. Saturday morning I woke up at 5am still not wanting to get out of bed- finally I drug myself out and ran around the house frantically trying to get my shitz together and meet Team Strive at 6 for a run. I had 12 on the schedule but after talking to Coach K it was reduced to 8. I was pleased when I arrive at Starbucks to see several teammates including Coach, I have known my coach for a couple of years and this was this first time to run with her. Ok so I didn't run with her, we took off at the same time and we crossed paths near the turn around and I saw her after I finished and we had coffee. I ran with Gena, which was awesome we ran a nice pace, the weather was cooler than it has been in a looooonnnngggggg time. 8 miles in about 1:30.

Sunday I went up to the gym and swam for about 15 mins. Swimming is really not fun for me yet. I hope this starts to come easy sometime soon. My stroke is brutal, my breathing well we won't go into that. My gym is not really set up to swim laps so I had a girl in the pool with me doing aerobics, I guess the waves she was making helps with choppy lake water training. Also sharing the pool with me were two ladies floating on noodles. A few times I quit swimming and then moved around them. After my not so pleasant swim I went out for a short bike ride (8.25 miles). My first ride in a very long time. I figured since I have my first tri coming up on October 18th I should ride outside for a change. I am a bit nervous about this coming up so quickly- my only hopes for this race are too finish and to learn.

Hope to see you on the roads.

Hi! Thanks for stopping by my blog and for the comment.

Good luck getting back into the swing of things.

In my book, as long as you're not slapping the divider buoy things when swimming, you're doing great! :)

...not that that has ever happened to me....

It sounds like you did fine in shaking off the rust and getting back into working out.

I know you'll do fine in October at your tri.

Glad you are back at it babe! If you can run with Gena then all is still good cause that girl has turned into Speedy Alvarez, so that means your still a lean mean fighting machine. Hope to see you soon and even more be at that tri in Oct and cheering you on!
